When I was in Usedom, an island of the Baltic Sea, in autumn I mainly went there to have a break for some days, to relax and to just live in the moment and see what the day brings. I spent many hours in the spa, was eating good food and enjoying my bed in the hotel room. In the afternoons I used to have long walks along the beach or the little town. While basically doing nothing for days, I discovered many cool things to do in Usedom which I’d like to share with you. I didn’t do all of them, but I will definitely do during my next visit. But this is not just a list of things to do somewhere.
What I actually want to tell you by this list is, that sometimes being spontaneous pays off so much more than planning everything ahead when traveling. I just found all the things I mention in this post because I was wandering around without having a specific goal and was just enjoying the moment. And suddenly I discovered that. And suddenly I experienced this. I strongly believe that the coolest experiences happen when you just live the moment and enjoy what you are doing. But now coming back to the list of cool things to do in Usedom 😉
Cool things to do in Usedom: 1. Rent your own Sauna at the beach
How cool is this little barrel which is actually a sauna? And even cooler is that you can rent it per hour just for yourself or you and your friends. And I didn’t even mention yet that it is just right at the beach of Usedom and you can get out of the sauna and take a cold dip in the Baltic Sea. Or relax in one of the typical beach beds called „Strandkorb“. Really really cool idea if you ask me.
On the following picture is the name and phone number of the owner in case you are interested in renting it:
Cool things to do in Usedom: 2. Go to a café in a Church
While having a walk on the Polish side of Usedom, I discovered this café which is in an „old“ church. So funny! The café is nothing special, but hey, now you can say you were sipping coffee in a church 😉 Find the address and more information about the café here.
Cool things to do in Usedom: 3. Enjoy the views of Sky Walk Deck of the Radisson Blue Hotel
The infrastructure of Usedom is well established and there are all tourist installation which you could think of. There are many hotels but still, it doesn’t feel very crowded or touristy there because most hotels are individual, privately owned places with just a few stories. However, one Hotel, Radisson Blue, is really killing it and standing out. You could argue if it was a good idea to build such a huge hotel there. BUT the hotel also gives you the possibility to watch the sunset from the rooftop deck, called „Sky Walk“ which is really very special.
If you are a hotel guest you can even use the swimming pool and jacuzzi on the rooftop. Very exclusive and extraordinary compared to the other hotels in Usedom.
Cool things to do in Usedom: 4. Watch a movie at the beach in the Open Air Cinema in summer
I was in Usedom in autumn and therefore it was too cold for an Open Air Cinema. But I saw the movie screen at beach Heringsdorf in Usedom and I think this is a really cool idea. They show movies in July and August. Head to this website for more information, opening hours and movie schedule. I love open-air movies – so far I only found these in parks in cities (like in Munich, here we have many and it is very popular in summer), but never at the beach. It must be so relaxed. Let me know if you went there and how it was? I hope my next stay there will be in summer so that I can try as well.
I hope you liked my list of cool things to do in Usedom? Do you know more? Drop me a comment and let others know also!
By the way, all these 4 things I only discovered by wandering around – not by researching online. I want to motivate you to go out and – never stop exploring! Because only then you will discover cool, unexpected things and experience moments you will tell your kids about.
In case you are planning a trip to Usedom right now, I have another tip for you: Hotels on the Polish side of Usedom are way cheaper. And as Usedom is in general quite small, you can still go to all the places on the German side by car. I was staying in Radisson Blue Resort Swinemünde and besides the fact that it is a really huge hotel, I really enjoyed my stay very much. There is so much to do in this hotel, a lot of wellness (even a jacuzzi on the rooftop), a gym, a water world for kids, even a climbing wall and a surfing wave and the rooms are new, stylish and comfortable, see yourself:
I hope I could motivate you to go to Usedom? And even if you don’t fancy doing these cool things there, it is still a very charming place where true relaxation and slowing down from everyday life is the main thing to do.
These are really cool tips. If we go to Usedom once, we’ll definitley check them out. We especially love the sauna at the beach 😉
Cool, happy that you liked the tips! Let me know how the sauna was 😀
