I love sunrise and sunsets. Not only for the colours. But also for the calm atmosphere. Especially sunrises are so peaceful and calm. This atmosphere combined with the sea just makes me so relaxed and gives me so much peace, it’s incredible. If you feel the same, you should keep reading, because I will show you the best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom, a German, Polish island of the Baltic sea. A very charming one.
Best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom: sunrise at Ahlbeck Pier
Seebad Ahlbeck and its pier is my favourite sunrise spot of Usedom and definitely number one of the best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom, maybe of the whole Baltic sea (at least of the part I saw from the Baltic sea). It reflects the typical German Baltic sea flair with its typical beach chair, light breeze and calm autumn morning.
But see yourself:
How to get there:
Seebrücke, 17419 Heringsdorf (or 53°56’35.1″N 14°11’29.3″E)
Best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom: Sunrise at Heringsdorf Pier
Second place of the best sunrise spots is this Seebad Heringsdorf and its very characteristic pear with the triangle building. It is just some kilometres South of Seebad Ahlbeck and therefore very similar.
How to get there:
Seebrücke Heringsdorf, 17424 Heringsdorf (or: 53°57’22.7″N 14°10’13.5″E)
Best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom: sunset at viewpoint „Loddiner Höft“ at Achtwasser
A bit lesser known is the one at Achterwasser close to Loddin. „Achterwasser“ means that it is a kind of lagoon forming a bay on the Peenestrom river, which is flowing into the Baltic Sea. There are many spots to watch the sunset there. I was at a spot called „Loddiner Höft“ which requires a little walk of around 15 to 20 minutes through idyllic scenery along a cow pasture.
We even saw a little deer on our way.
And the sunset is very idyllic. See yourself:
How to get there:
Drive by car to Restaurant „Waterblick“ (at the end of street „Dorfstraße“ in 17459 Loddin), park at the restaurant parking and follow the signs to „Loddiner Höft“ which leads around 15 minutes along a little path till you arrive at the viewpoint.
Best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom: Sunset from the rooftop of Radisson Blu Swinemünde
This is a bit different location than the others but also a unique one. Radisson Blu Hotel on the polish side of Usedom is by far the highest building in the area (some might even say it destroys the landscape there because it really stands out). However, there is a pretty viewpoint platform on the roof which you can enter for free if you are a guest of the hotel and for a few euros as a visitor. And the view is not bad, I would say:
I hope you like my personal best sunrise and sunset spots of Usedom. If you have more tips, let me know in the comments below!
By the way, we stayed in this hotel, in early September, and it turned out to be a really good pick. To be honest: if you are not a kite surfer, there is not so much to do at Usedom. Therefore we actually went there: to relax. And Radisson Blu Swinemünde is really perfect for it, with offering various wellness installation, even with jacuzzi and pool on the rooftop, an adventure swimming pool, gym, climbing wall, and much more. We had a wonderful 4 days there with some sports, some chilling and many long walks at the beach.
Sometimes we need a little bit less action and exploring, and just light sports and chilling <3 But just sometimes 😉
