Lake Eibsee is for me personally the most beautiful lake I’ve seen so far. Because of its Caribbean flair, its beautiful location and the stunning scenery. Find the best picture spots of Eibsee in this post. But this is not all you can do at this beautiful piece of earth. You can hike, swim, rent a boat or even a SUP. What else do you need?

I’ve been to this lake a couple of times and was every time again surprised by it’s beauty. In this post, I will show you the best picture spots at Eibsee. When I went there the first time for a little shoot, I took the wrong way and till I finally found the spot which I’ve seen many times in Instagram, the sun was already up and the light not that good anymore. In order not to fall into the same traps as me, I’ll pass you all my tips.

There is a path leading around the lake, sometimes next to the lake, but most times a bit elevated which gives you great views at the lake and its impressing islands. In general, I recommend taking the path in the North direction because from this side you will see the great reflections in the early morning. And you will be faster at my recommended picture spots which are all located on the north or west side of the lake. When arriving at the parking don’t follow the first sign pointing out the viewpoint, because this will most likely (depending on where you park) lead you in the direction of the south side of the lake. In order to get to the right direction (north) stick to the right of the parking and pass Hotel Eibsee.

#1 of Best picture spots of Eibsee

This spot is probably one of the most famous ones, the view at „Braxeninsel“. However not so easy to find. It is not directly located along the path which leads around the lake. You have to leave the official path at one point and walk along the banks of the lake (cross your fingers that the water is not too high) in order to find it. In the morning when the sun is still hiding behind the mountains, you have this great reflection of the whole scenery in the lake – on clear days of course.

During the day this is a well-known nudist area (which means naked people tanning and swimming there – yes in Germany that’s totally normal haha). So make sure to come early.

#2 of Best picture spots of Eibsee

Number 2 of the best picture spots of Eibsee is the official viewpoint which is more or less halfway located directly on the official path. Also signs with the words „Aussichtspunkt“ lead there. It truly is the spot where you have a great view of most of the islands of the lake.

#3 of Best picture spots of Eibsee

This is a picture from a little „beach” and the view of the island „Schönbichl“. Also here you can see the stunning reflections of the mountain scenery in the early mornings. It is also a great spot to sit down and rest and enjoy the lake, after your big photo shoot.

Most of the islands are located in the North West of the lake. Therefore great views at the little islands are in this direction. There is no specific spot, but the stretch which you can see in the following map is where you can take many stunning glimpses at the islands from the official path. At these spots daytime as well as the early morning are great for taking pictures. In the early morning you will benefit from the reflections on the surface and in the daytime, this Caribbean feeling comes up due to the turquoise shining water.

If you like one spot you can also climb down to the water, but be aware sometimes it is very steep and a bit dangerous.

#5 of Best picture spots of Eibsee

The last one of my personal best picture spots of Eibsee is a place where I actually already finished my picture tour and took a swim. However, I think it is a great picture spot as well. In the early morning, you can also see this amazing reflection from this spot, but this shot was a bit later in the day, therefore no reflections anymore.

I guess you must have realized that I am absolutely in love with Lake Eibsee. Of course, taking pictures in one thing, but this place is way more than a picture spot. You should plan the whole day there, don’t only come to take pictures there. There is so much more to do there. Either you can just enjoy a lazy beach day. Just a bit North of the parking lot is the most famous swimming area because there are little beaches where lying down is most comfortable. Or be more active, do some hiking, rent a boat or try out Stand Up Paddling (SUP). There is also a beautiful restaurant located directly at the lake with a big terrace facing the lake.
