Such a lovely town and we’ll show you our relaxed things to do in Prague – worth a visit all year round. We have been there last fall and it was very crowded, especially Charles bridge. In this blog post, I’d like to show you some cool things to do in Prague. Prague is full of history – and full of historical sights. So don’t miss to join one of the free walking tours through the city which will give you all the insights into the history of the city as well as a great overview of the city nowadays.
When we were in Prague, we just went through a very busy time: new job for my boyfriend, and some exhausting business travels in a row for me. And as if this was not enough I caught a cold. So there we were now in Prague, stressed and sick, not motivated at all to do extensive sight seeing, nor squeezing through the mass of tourists on Charles bridge (even if the atmosphere is really lovely on this bridge – felt like in Paris to me <3 ). That is why for this travel we decided to only do the things we feel like doing. No planning, no plans, no „must-see“ sights but instead just roam around and see where we end up. In the following I will show you where we ended up.
Relaxed things to do in Prague: 1. You can’t miss the classics.
Even if you might not feel like doing extensive sightseeing you can have a relaxed stroll through the city like we did. Start at Old Town Square, admire the Prague’s Astronomical Clock and make your way to Charles Bridge. This bridge was so crowded when we were there, but it is so lovely at the same time. It felt like the Notre Dame area in Paris to me. Then make your way up to the Castle through little alleys which will bring you to my next tip.
Relaxed things to do in Prague: 2. Take a selfie at the John Lennon Wall
John Lennon Wall just happened to Prague and is a wall full of graffiti which includes song texts and pictures of John Lennon. It all started in 1980 when somebody painted a single picture of John Lennon on this wall. And this got the ball rolling. So if you love the Beatles and John Lennon, make sure to go there!.

Relaxed things to do in Prague: 3. Try the delicious sweet pastry „Trdelnik“
On your way up to the castle (and actually during your whole city stroll) you will see stands where they sell these sweet pastries called „Trdelnik“ (Some Germans might know it as „Baumstritzel“). It is a rolled dough which is wrapped around a stick and covered with sugar. There are various flavors like cinnamon, and they even brought it to the next level by filling this pastry with ice cream, cream and fruits. I guess one must have thousand calories – however, enjoy!
Relaxed things to do in Prague: 4. Climb Powder tower
When you are back in the Old quarter of town, consider climbing powder tower. It gives you a really pretty overview of the Old quarter and it felt like not many people know that you can actually climb up because we were the only ones.

Relaxed things to do in Prague: 5. Have dinner at the river
Like most towns which have a river, it is very romantic to stroll around there in the evening and have dinner at the river. We discovered this very cute Italian restaurant in a houseboat, called Botel Matylda, just by strolling around and really recommend to go there:
This also proves again that planning every detail of a trip is not always the best option. In my experience, I always found really cool or special or lovely places just by walking around and discovering the area with all five senses. When planning every place to go and restaurant to eat you will also have no more surprises. Because you most likely already checked the website of the restaurant, the menu, probably you also watched the pictures in Google maps and read the reviews. Which might be helpful of course, but we would have never found this restaurant for example. Let me know how you liked the houseboat restaurant in the comments below! I’m curious 🙂
Relaxed things to do in Prague: 6. Go up the ugliest building of the world
And finally, my favorite thing to do in Prague: Have a drink in the ugliest building of Prague, some might even say of the world. No words can better describe this building than a picture:
But people in Prague tried to make the best out of this super ugly building called Žižkov Tower (which is by the way also located in an ugly area in Prague) and included a viewpoint platform in one of the upper floors as well as a restaurant and bar. In the bar they do molecular cocktails and it is a spectacle every time a smoking cocktail is served. It was the perfect ending of our relaxed day in Prague.

Relaxed things to do in Prague: 7. Watch the sunset at the river
The golden hour is especially beautiful at the river with the iconic silhouette of Prague, have a look:
Just choose one of the bridges (not Charles bridge because it is crowded all day long), grab a bottle of wine or hot wine and enjoy the atmosphere.
